Public Notice Regarding Upcoming Protest in Gallatin
The Gallatin Police Department recognizes the constitutional right to peacefully protest and assemble. However, all participants must do so in accordance with local laws and regulations to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
We want to remind those planning to participate in the upcoming protest of the following:
Face Coverings or Masks: Pursuant to City of Gallatin Municipal Code § 12.28.010, it is unlawful for any person to wear a mask or face covering in public that conceals their identity. Individuals in violation of this ordinance will be cited and asked to leave the event.
Blocking Roads or Buildings: Obstructing public streets, sidewalks, or access to buildings outside of the designated protest area is prohibited under TCA § 39-17-307 (Obstruction of Highway or Passageway) and TCA § 39-17-305 (Disorderly Conduct). Violators will be subject to enforcement action.
Business Access: Our local businesses remain open and have the right to operate without interference. Disruption of commerce or impeding access to these establishments will not be tolerated.
Officers from the Gallatin Police Department will be on site to maintain public order and ensure a safe environment for all. While we respect and uphold the right to lawful protest, any violence, destruction of property, or disorderly behavior will result in immediate enforcement action under applicable laws, including TCA § 39-14-408 (Vandalism) and TCA § 39-17-305 (Disorderly Conduct).
We thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and commitment to a peaceful and lawful event.
