Josh Berry: Hendersonville’s Own Takes the Checkered Flag in NASCAR Cup!
Hendersonville, fire up the engines and tighten those seatbelts because our own Josh Berry just got his first NASCAR Win! The Tennessee native became the first NASCAR Weekly Series Champion to ever burn rubber straight into Victory Lane in a NASCAR Cup Series race. That’s right, folks—Berry took the high line, dodged the wrecks, and drove straight into the record books.
For those of us who’ve been around the track a few times, we know that jumping from the weekly series to the big leagues isn’t exactly like swapping out a set of tires. In fact, before Berry’s Cup win, the best any former weekly series champ had done was Mike Alexander nearly 40 years ago! That’s longer than some of these pit crew rookies have been alive.
Berry’s road to glory wasn’t a smooth Sunday cruise, either. He wasn’t born with a silver lug nut in his mouth—his journey was built on grit, grease, and the kind of determination that turns a backyard go-kart racer into a Cup Series winner. “When I was racing as a kid, we always felt like we were one crash or one blown engine away from being done, because we just didn’t have the funding to really consistently do it,” Berry said. And let’s be real—anyone who’s ever tried to keep an old beater running on a budget knows exactly what he means.
But Berry didn’t let those bumps in the road throw him into the wall. Instead, he put his foot down and kept chasing the dream. His rise through the ranks is a classic underdog story, proving that with enough horsepower and heart, even the little guy can leave the big dogs in the dust.

Now, with that first Cup win under his belt, the question is: what’s next? If history has taught us anything, it’s that once a driver gets a taste of Victory Lane, they’re hooked. So don’t be surprised if Berry keeps pushing that throttle and stacking up trophies.
Hendersonville, let’s give a standing ovation to one of our own—a racer who never lifted, never quit, and just showed the NASCAR world that the small-town kid can still beat the big boys. Josh Berry, we’re all waving the checkered flag for you!
